Curative antibiotic Cefixime

Cefixime is an antibiotic that relates to the third generation cephalosporins, is distinguished by a wide range of antibacterial action. This is powder which is from white to pale yellow colour with a characteristic smell, while mixing this powder with water, you obtain from cream to pale yellow viscous suspension. Generic Cefixime destroys bacteria by disrupting the synthesis of the bacterial cell.

It interacts with penicillin connective proteins (SRP) in the cytoplasm of bacterial membranes and enzymes acetylate transpeptidase within the membrane, disrupting the transverse peptide chains that are required for building the bacterial cell. The antibiotic inhibits the growth and division of bacterial cells and causes lysis of the bacterial cell. Bacteria with high intensity divisions are particularly sensitive to the action of the drug. Cefixime is highly steady in the presence of beta-lactamase (penicillin basics and cephalosporinase), therefore, applies to a wide range of gram-negative bacteria, comprising strains that penicillin produces.

For children from 6 months to 12 years old, the length of treatment depends on the seriousness of the disease and is determined individually. The course of the medical therapy is from 3 (uncomplicated infections) to 10-14 days.

Features of taking and interaction with other substances

The preparation should be appointed with caution in the presence of a history of bleeding disorders, gastrointestinal disease, especially regional enteritis, ulcerative colitis or colitis in applying the antibiotic (Cefixime can provoke pseudomembranous colitis) and also at infringement of function of a liver.   Children with kidney disease are assigned from 1.5 to 3 mg of drug per 1 kg of body weight per day.

A long therapy course with Generic Cefixime can cause an outbreak of the growth of Candida albicans, and, as a result, candidiasis of the oral mucosa.   In the presence of beta-hemolytic streptococcal contagions of group A, the therapy course should be at least 10 days to avoid acute rheumatic fever or glomerulonephritis. The prolonged treatment should monitor blood count and liver function of the kidneys. During the period of application of the drug can be a positive direct Coombs test, pseudo-positive reaction of the urine for glucose.

There is an influence on velocity responses while driving by motor transport or working with other mechanisms.    There is a potential opportunity for increased nephrotoxicity while taking this antibiotic with other nephrotoxic drugs, such as strong diuretics, especially in examinees with violated renal function. The kidney function should be carefully controlled if a patient is treated with aminoglycosides simultaneously with Cefixime.

While applying Cefixime and carbamazepine increases the concentration of carbamazepine in plasma. The antibiotic may interact with zoomarine and other anticoagulants.   Store at temperature not above 25 °C, protected from light and out of reach of children. The prepared suspension may be kept for 10 days at temperature above 25 ºC. Don’t cool and don’t freeze it. The bottle should be tightly closed.
